Dr. Kent Bonney
Dr. Bonney was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Duke University and Temple University School of Medicine, and completed his pediatric residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. Dr. Bonney received the Meritorious Service Medal as a pediatrician in the U.S. Army. During his service, he directed the National Capital Asthma Program and completed a one-year fellowship in Neonatology. His special interests are newborn medicine and pediatric asthma. He joined the practice in 1998. As an innovator, Dr. Bonney developed a pediatric medication app, Pedi Quickcalc, which was chosen by Contemporary Pediatrics as a Top 10 Medical App in 2017. He and his wife Pam have twin daughters and one son. They enjoy golf, music, and outdoor activities.
Dr. Yun Boylston
Dr. Boylston grew up in Columbia, South Carolina. She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University and completed her medical degree and pediatric residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. She joined Burlington Pediatrics in 2009. Dr. Boylston was selected as a Forty Under 40 business leader in 2016 by the Triad Business Journal. She is the 2017 recipient of the North Carolina Pediatric Society's Rising Star Early Career Physician Award. She serves on the Boards of Impact Alamance, Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, and the Alamance Chamber. She is an adjunct professor at UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine, and is a reviewer for Pediatrics, the journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Boylston and her husband Brian have three children. Their interests include sailing, taking road trips, and outdoor activities.
Dr. Hillary Carroll
Dr. Carroll was raised in Greensboro, North Carolina. She graduated from Wake Forest University and from Bowman Gray School of Medicine. She completed her residency training at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she also served as Chief Resident. She joined Burlington Pediatrics in 1991. Dr. Carroll is passionate about improving the health of children in our community and is a champion of the Reach Out and Reach program. Dr. Carroll and her husband Paul have two daughters. Their interests include family and church activities and water sports.
Dr. David Johnson
Dr. Johnson was born and raised in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He received his undergraduate degree from Wittenberg University and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Tennessee School of Medicine, where he was selected as a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society. His pediatric training was completed at Children's Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham. He joined the practice in 1981. He received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1991 from Children's Hospital. A business leader in our community, Dr. Johnson is a past Board Chair of the Alamance Chamber. He and his wife Becky have three daughters and seven grandchildren. Their interests include family activities and sports.
Dr. David Mertz
Dr. Mertz was born in Hawaii. He graduated cum laude from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and received his medical degree from the University of Hawaii in Honolulu, where he was selected as a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society. He completed his pediatric residency at Duke University Medical Center. He taught school for several years prior to attending medical school, including some time in South America. He is fluent in Spanish. He joined Burlington Pediatrics in 1999. Dr. Mertz represents Burlington Pediatrics in the Triad Healthcare Network. Dr. Mertz and his wife Michelle are patrons of the Alamance Children's Theatre as well as Studio 1, a community theatre organization. They have two sons and enjoy theater and church activities.
Dr. Karin Minter
Dr. Minter was born and raised in New Haven, Connecticut. She received her undergraduate degree from Cornell University before moving south for her medical training. Dr. Minter graduated from Duke University School of Medicine. She stayed at Duke for her residency training in Pediatrics, where she also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Minter has a Master's Degree in Public Health in the field of Maternal and Child Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She joined Burlington Pediatrics in 2006. Dr. Minter is the 2017 North Carolina Doctor of the Year. She serves as the Chair of the Alamance County Board of Health. She and her husband Kevin enjoy traveling and outdoor activities.
Dr. Kristen Moffitt
Dr. Moffitt was raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. She graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She received her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Moffitt joined Burlington Pediatrics in 1989. She has a special interest in adolescent medicine. Dr. Moffitt is on the Board of Directors of Alamance Partnership for Children. She is also a past elected member of the Alamance County Board of Education. Dr. Moffitt and her husband, Scott, have three sons. Their interests include church and family activities.
Dr. Kristen Page
Dr. Page was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. She earned her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Florida. Dr. Page completed residency training in Pediatrics and Preventive Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she also earned a Master of Public Health degree in the field of Health Policy and Management. She joined Burlington Pediatrics in 2015. Dr. Page is a 2017 graduate of the North Carolina Medical Society's Leadership College. Dr. Page and her husband Nathan enjoy spending time with family and friends, outdoor activities, and travelling.
Mr. Trevor Downs
Trevor Downs was raised in Silver Spring, Maryland. He earned his undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University and a Master's degree from the University of Maryland. He joined Burlington Pediatrics in 1998 after completing his pediatric Physician Assistant training at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver. Trevor provides both routine well-child and acute illness care. He is a clinical preceptor for Physician Assistant students at Elon University and Wake Forest University. He loves to travel and has lived abroad in Argentina and Spain; moreover, he is fluent in Spanish. Trevor and his wife, Laurie, have 2 daughters who have been brought up in the Alamance County community.
Mrs. Beverly Hockenberger
Beverly Hockenberger, PAC was born and raised in neighboring Caswell County. Her undergraduate degree is from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Physician Assistant training is from Duke University. Beverly joined Burlington Pediatrics in 2011 and has over 26 years of experience in pediatrics. In addition to providing care for patients, Beverly is a lactation educator and provides support for our breastfeeding moms. She is also a clinical preceptor for Physician Assistant students at Elon University. Her personal interests include baking, basketry, stained glass design, as well as camping and skiing with her family.
I am Mrs. Laura Fox Landon
Mrs. Laura Fox Landon, CPNP was born and raised in New Bern, NC. She joined Burlington Pediatrics in October, 2017. She graduated from North Carolina State University with a BS in Biological Sciences and a minor in Health, Medicine, and Human Values. Laura obtained her MS in Nursing, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Primary Care Option from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has previous training in pediatrics and is excited about the opportunity to follow her patients from birth through adolescence; watching them grow, achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Laura enjoys spending time with her husband Zach, being outdoors, spending time at the beach, spending time with friends and family, painting and most recently spinning.
