Dr. Yun Boylston 

Dr. Boylston joined Burlington Pediatrics in 2009. She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University and completed her medical degree and pediatric residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. She is the 2017 recipient of the North Carolina Pediatric Society’s Rising Star Early Career Physician Award. She serves on the Board of Impact Alamance and is a Trustee of Cone Health System. Dr. Boylston is a mentor and preceptor for medical students at UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine. She enjoys traveling and planning the next great adventure.

Dante Lewis, MD
Dr. Danté Lewis

Dr. Lewis earned his undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and attended medical school at the Medical College of Pennsylvania/Hahnemann University School of Medicine, now named Drexel University School of Medicine. He completed an Internship and Pediatric Residency at Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut. Dr. Lewis is an accomplished Pediatrician, who is board certified in Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. His areas of special interests include things for which he is passionate, allowing him to deliver evidence-based care. His specialties are asthma management, autism spectrum disorders, early literacy (seen through Dr. Lewis’ role with the Reach Out and Read program), and eczema. Dr. Lewis is interested in utilizing telemedicine link for children along the Autism Spectrum. In addition to delivering services in English, Dr. Lewis maintains a love for the Spanish dialect and remains fluent in the language. Dr. Lewis’ previous experience and permanent licensure as a New York City Board of Education educator allows him to enhance his practice of teaching Pediatric Medicine into an authentic, hands-on experience for patients and families. In his teaching capacity, he has precepted Family Medicine residents, Medical students, Nurse Practitioner students, and Physician Assistant students. In addition, he enjoys the opportunity to teach parents and families how to establish plans that will enable life-long health success. A native of Staten Island, New York, Dr. Lewis and his wife of 25 years, enjoy spending time with their daughter (a recent graduate of Temple University and aspiring graduate students) and their two young sons. Dr. Lewis enjoys bicycling, traveling, and spending quality family time RV camping. Dr. Lewis has relocated to achieve improved work-life balance and to take full advantage of the educational system in the area. Dr. Lewis looks forward to exercising all of his skills and talents to become a productive part of the Burlington/Alamance County community.

Dr. David Mertz

Dr. Mertz was born in Hawaii. He graduated cum laude from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and received his medical degree from the University of Hawaii in Honolulu, where he was selected as a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society. He completed his pediatric residency at Duke University Medical Center. He taught school for several years prior to attending medical school, including some time in South America. He is fluent in Spanish. He joined Burlington Pediatrics in 1999. Dr. Mertz represents Burlington Pediatrics in the Triad Healthcare Network. Dr. Mertz and his wife Michelle are patrons of the Alamance Children’s Theatre as well as Studio 1, a community theatre organization. They have two sons and enjoy theater and church activities.

Karin Minter, MD MPH
Dr. Karin Minter

Dr. Minter was born and raised in New Haven, Connecticut. She received her undergraduate degree from Cornell University before moving south for her medical training. Dr. Minter graduated from Duke University School of Medicine. She stayed at Duke for her residency training in Pediatrics, where she also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Minter has a Master’s Degree in Public Health in the field of Maternal and Child Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She joined Burlington Pediatrics in 2006. Dr. Minter is the 2017 North Carolina Doctor of the Year. She serves as the Chair of the Alamance County Board of Health. She and her husband Kevin enjoy traveling and outdoor activities.

Dr. Kristen Page

Dr. Page was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. She earned her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Florida. Dr. Page completed residency training in Pediatrics and Preventive Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she also earned a Master of Public Health degree in the field of Health Policy and Management. She joined Burlington Pediatrics in 2015. Dr. Page is a 2017 graduate of the North Carolina Medical Society’s Leadership College. Dr. Page and her husband Nathan enjoy spending time with family and friends, outdoor activities and traveling.

Kimberly Wells, MD
Dr. Kimberly Wells

Dr. Wells grew up outside of Philadelphia in Aston, Pennsylvania. Always a lover of reading, she studied English literature at Bryn Mawr College. She then spent several years working in libraries before moving to Japan to teach English as a second language. Teaching ultimately led her to discover her love of pediatrics. She moved to the Midwest to complete her medical degree at Western Michigan University, then ventured down South for her pediatric residency at Duke. Dr. Wells is passionate about the full breadth of pediatrics and loves caring for all patients and families, from newborns to adolescents. She has a particular interest in supporting adolescents as they forge their identities and journey into young adulthood. She continues to be enthusiastic about reading and education and especially enjoys promoting early literacy with the Reach Out and Read program. Upon moving to North Carolina, Dr. Wells and her husband were immediately hooked and didn’t want to leave. They enjoy exploring North Carolina, hiking with their dogs, and traveling.

Trevor Downs, PA-C

Trevor Downs was raised in Silver Spring, Maryland. He earned his undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University and a Master’s degree from the University of Maryland. He joined Burlington Pediatrics in 1998 after completing his pediatric Physician Assistant training at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver. Trevor provides both routine well-child and acute illness care. He is a clinical preceptor for Physician Assistant students at Elon University and Wake Forest University. He loves to travel and has lived abroad in Argentina and Spain; moreover, he is fluent in Spanish. Trevor and his wife, Laurie, have 2 daughters who have been brought up in the Alamance County community.

Carley Etzweiler, PNP

Carley Etzweiler was born and raised in Ashburn, VA. Carley will be joining Burlington/Mebane Pediatrics in May of 2024. Carley graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She then spent 5 years working as an inpatient nurse at UNC Children’s Hospital on the Pediatric Surgery, Trauma, and Burn Unit. In 2023, Carley received her Master of Science in Nursing from Duke University, where she specialized in Pediatric Primary Care. Carley is passionate about encouraging healthy lifestyles, promoting preventative care, and integrating mental/behavioral health into primary care. She is most excited about getting to follow her patients from infancy through late adolescence. Carley enjoys running, cycling, playing pickleball, watching sports, going to Lake Anna, and spending time with her friends and family.

Beverly Hockenberger, PA-C

Beverly Hockenberger was born and raised in neighboring Caswell County. Her undergraduate degree is from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Physician Assistant training is from Duke University. Beverly joined Burlington Pediatrics in 2011 and has over 26 years of experience in pediatrics. In addition to providing care for patients, Beverly is a lactation educator and provides support for our breastfeeding moms. She is also a clinical preceptor for Physician Assistant students at Elon University. Her personal interests include baking, basketry, stained glass design, as well as camping and skiing with her family.

Catherine Mueller, PNP

Catherine Mueller was born and raised in Advance, NC. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BS degree in nursing. She worked as a nurse at UNC Children’s hospital on a pediatric medicine floor for almost 5 years. During that time, she obtained her MS degree in Nursing to practice as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care from Duke University. She joined Burlington Pediatrics in March, 2019. Catherine has a passion for pediatric behavioral and mental health. She hopes to serve patients and families in our community by connecting families to resources and integrating behavioral and mental health care into pediatric primary care. Catherine enjoys spending time with her husband Andrew, visiting friends and family, going to Lake Norman, and being active in her church community.

Evina Nonato, PNP

Evina Nonato grew up in Raleigh, NC. In 2008, she graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She spent 3 years working inpatient pediatrics at Duke Medical Center and received her Masters of Science in Nursing from Duke University, specializing in Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Primary Care. She has over eight years of outpatient experience as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and joins Burlington Pediatrics in March of 2023. Evina enjoys providing education to families about children’s growth and development. She enjoys reading, trying out new cuisine, and spending time with her family,her cat Piper, and dog Wesley.

Kelsey Quaile, PA-C

Kelsey Quaile was born and raised in Winston Salem, NC. She graduated from Duke University with a BS in Biology and a BS in Evolutionary Anthropology. After a few years working for the American Red Cross, Kelsey received her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Elon University. From a young age, she has dreamed of a career in pediatric medicine and is thrilled to be joining Burlington Pediatrics as a newly minted PA-C in June 2022. Her specific interests include developmental/behavioral disorders and mental health. Aside from medicine, Kelsey’s two main passions are animals and college basketball. She loves visiting the NC Zoo and is a lifelong Cameron Crazie. In her free time, Kelsey enjoys painting, playing board games, and spoiling her two rescue dogs, Echo and Lalia.

Kelly Thomason, PNP

Kelly Thomason was born and raised in Charlotte, NC. She is joining Burlington Pediatrics in August 2022. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BS in Biology and Anthropology. She obtained her BS and MS in Nursing at Emory University specializing in Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Primary Care. She has previous experience in pediatric primary care and is passionate about encouraging healthy habits early in life as well as safe sports participation. She enjoys getting to follow her patients from infancy through young adulthood. Kelly enjoys hiking, yoga, gardening, and traveling, as well as spending time with her husband Steve and their two dogs.

Madison Waverka, PNP

Madison Waverka was born and raised in Cary, NC. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and spent over four years as a nurse in the Pediatric Cardiac ICU at Duke, where she developed a passion for building supportive relationships with patients and their families. In 2024, Madison completed her Master of Science in Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, specializing in Pediatric Primary Care. Her professional interests include early childhood development, asthma management, and promoting healthy lifestyles from an early age. Outside of work, Madison enjoys practicing yoga, embroidery, and traveling with her husband.
